Special Thank You - Missouri Humanities
The Jefferson Barracks Telephone Museum received a mini grant in 2024 from Missouri Humanities to assist in purchasing four Samsung tablets, accessories and floor stands.
Because of their generosity, we were able to place one tablet in each of our four rooms. The tablets provide a wealth of information on the telecommunications industry such as
- History of the telephone from 1876 to present.
- History of the telephone systems in the state of Missouri.
- How operator switchboards work.
- How Step-by-Step and Cross Bar equipment work.
- Other fun and educational videos such as pole climbing, Ernestine the Operator.
- Unique ring tones from our large display of character telephones.
- Historical advertising from the Bell System and Western Electric.
and much much more!
The equipment was purchased in partnership with Missouri Humanities and with support from the Missouri Humanities Trust Fund. Thank you, Missouri Humanities, for your generous support of the museum!
